Q&A With Me!
Welcome to... Wannabe Authors Today! I'm your host, Benedict Cumberbatch! (Ha, I wish.) Today, we'll be interviewing... Stephanie You-ain't-getting-my-last-name!
Q. So Stephanie, when did you first start writing?
A. Well, I would have to say sometime in the first grade. That's when I wrote my first "book". (See the quotation marks?) It was about four pages long and talked about my imaginary friends saving a magical unicorn.
Q. Magical unicorns, eh? That's not weird at all. Heh-heh... anyways, next question. Where do you get your ideas from?
A. Oh... probably from that deep, dark, dusty hole I call my subconscious mind. But really, I have no idea. Sometimes from dreams, and then sometimes I'll watch a really good movie that'll give me inspiration. I'll even get ideas when I go on vacation; seeing new places really gets those creative juices working.
Q. What's your favorite part about writing?
A. You know, it's actually kind of strange... but I can't really say. I mean, I can't exactly say that I love all of it, because I don't. (Ever try getting over writer's block??) I would have to say that my favorite part would be making up the characters. I love to make up the characters and give them their own little personalities and quirks. The characters start becoming a part of my life. Not saying that I'm a psycho or anything, but they almost seem to become real, which is really helpful when I'm trying to come up with characteristics for each of them.
Q. *whispers* Yup, she's cray-cray! *coughs* Um, alright then. So, what's your least favorite part about writing?
A. My least favorite part is when I get writer's block and it's like I know I should be writing, but I just can't. It's terrible. Or whenever I get lazy and just play on the computer instead.
Q. What people have encouraged your writing?
A. My buddies from school, a few author friends I've made, and my amazing teachers (Go Mrs. Martin! ^_^).
Q. Are there any people that have discouraged your writing?
A. Ehhhh... well... mostly parents. I can kind of understand it too; I mean, what's the chance of becoming a successful author who can support herself? However, I like to keep a more... optimistic approach to life. :)
Q. How do you get good at writing?
A. Practice, practice, practice! Isn't' that how you get good at anything?? Write every day. Read. Stuff like that.
Q. What's your favorite book?
A. Every one! Well, almost every one. Don't like nonfiction that much. :D My favorite genre would probably be action though. Even though fantasy is cool and fun to read, it's not going to happen in real life, so I don't like reading it that much.
Q. Which one of your stories is your favorite?
A. Aw, man! Don't ask me to take favorites! (Just kidding.) Um, well, I've been working on the Maledicti story for a looong time (Like, two years.) and I'm pretty far on it, and I can connect to some of the characters better. But on Wipeout, the plot is more original and the characters seem less bland. So, yup! I totally dodged that question.
