This is so not high school...
Hey guys! In case you didn't know, I'm now a ... freshman! A small, awkward, lonely ... freshman.
Big whoop.
Everyone knows that freshman year is the most awkwardest, most craziest year of high school. You're fresh out of middle school, everyone's taller than you, and you're hit with a TON of homework. Yeah, it's bad...
But, here's some tips to help you survive through... freshman year!
1. Hormones: Do you remember when your older brother/sister got all grumpy and self-conscious, shutting themselves in their room and acting all sullen? And your parents starting giving them the Talk About Hormones and Other Lovely Teenager Things? And how you laughed and said, "Yeah right, like that's real!!" Well, you were wrong. Hormones are totally and utterly real. Everyone gets these -- even those "popular" girls giggling over there in the corner. Most teenagers feel depressed and lonely at some time, some more than others. This feeling is totally normal, so don't feel like you're the only one in the world with these feelings. I, for one, am pretty sure that God accidentally sprinkled an extra helping of hormones on me. Personally, on some days, I feel like the ugliest, stupidest, and klutziest girl in the world (usually after a lovely zit appears right on my nose or forehead, usually in some lovely shade of scarlet).
2. Romance: When I was in middle school, it was serious to be hugging a guy. Now that I'm in high school, I see people walking down the hallway with their faces glued together. Most of my friends are pretty much immune to all the kissing now, but I still can't help but stop and stare at them... Now, as we all know, everyone's going to have some sort of serious crush in high school. My rule is: Follow your brain. Yes, I know that everyone says to follow your heart, but really? Just because you have world's biggest crush on some guy who smokes, takes drugs, and is an all-around jerk, doesn't mean that you should go out with him! Use your head!!!
3. The Homework: Yes, I know.... the dreaded homework... Don't you ever wish that you could just throw it all away??? I know for sure that I do! My one piece of advice is... DON'T PROCRASTINATE! I know how tempting that new video game or book may be, or how you can just hear Facebook calling your name... but don't give in, whatever you do! The workload in high school is huge, so don't make it worse by messing around when you should be doing your homework. Also, make sure to study early and get all your work done on time!
There you have it, my tips on three of the most crazy parts of high school. Just one last thing before I finish:
Be happy.
Yes, high school is boring and stressful, but really, this should be the best times of our lives! Hanging out with friends, dances, clubs... the list goes on and on! Just keep your head up, and you'll be fine!
Big whoop.
