But with Jason Russell's, um, "nervous breakdown", all of that came to a screeching halt.
Now, people were calling it "a scam" and "a load of bull****". Many people were claiming that Kony was dead, or that Invisible Children was using the money for their own personal purposes.
I believed them too. "Wow," I thought to myself, "What an idiot I was to believe all of that junk! I can't believe I was actually so enthusiastic about it." That was my mindset... until, well, a week ago.
I was cruising around on YouTube when I passed the "Kony 2012" video. "Ha," I said to myself, "I wonder how they tried to cover up Jason Russell's 'incident'." I went onto their channel and clicked on a random video. And, well, I was surprised.
Everything was explained perfectly. Although I can't say that what Russell did was... well, okay, the the explanation made it seem a tiny bit more understandable, especially when they showed some of the things that Russell was hearing about himself. ("Jason Russell and his family have a reserved spot in Hell.") I could also understand why they didn't seem to have a website for a while. Their Invisible Children website wasn't used to having so much traffic every day, so it crashed. That's why it seemed like it was a scam because they didn't have a website.
Now that I think about, I realize what an idiot I was for not looking up the facts before I went and believed everyone else. I didn't even watch any of their other videos or look up any of the facts.
Now, I'm not asking you to change your mind or to go fly to Africa and try to find Kony yourself, but I just want to remind everyone to check the facts before they make judgments.
